We make Over the Fence, the first tool below. Every fact about the other tools is from that tool’s own website, read on October 3, 2026, with the page linked. Semrush’s site showed us a CAPTCHA, so its numbers come from the Internet Archive’s copies of its own pricing pages, dated where we use them. Prices change. Check them before you buy.
An AI visibility tool asks AI engines the questions your buyers ask and records which brands and websites the answers name. For a big brand, that number is a marketing metric. For a store, it only means something next to your competitors’. “Cited in 17 answers” is good news if your closest rival has 6, and bad news if it has 36.
That’s the test we used. Each tool below is described by what it tracks, how often, what it costs and how many people on your team can use it.
Our pick for online stores is Over the Fence: AI visibility against each competitor you name, beside their prices, promotions and Google rankings, with your whole team on every plan. It reads Google’s AI Overviews, the AI answers at the top of Google. If you also want ChatGPT and Perplexity checked daily, add OtterlyAI at $29 a month.
What a store should look for
- Your competitors beside you. A share of AI answers means nothing on its own. The tool should name your rivals and put their numbers next to yours.
- The answers your buyers see. Google’s AI Overviews sit on top of the search results most shoppers still start with. Alphabet’s CEO said in June 2026 that they have 2.5 billion monthly users, as The Motley Fool reported. ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini matter too, and how much depends on your buyers.
- What to do about it. A score that moves isn’t a plan. Look for the sources the answers trust, the pages they cite instead of yours and what those pages say that yours don’t.
- Your products, if you sell many. A few tools track individual products in AI shopping answers. Most keep that for their bigger plans.
- The whole bill. Check the monthly price, not only the yearly one, and how many people it includes. Extra users often cost extra.

1. Over the Fence
Our pick for online stores. This one is ours.
Over the Fence starts from your store and the 3, 6 or 12 competitors you name, not from a list of prompts. Every week it counts how many of Google’s AI Overviews cite you and each competitor, for searches in your country and language, with the questions and sources behind every count. For every keyword you track, it shows whether Google showed an AI Overview and which websites it cited.
What no other tool here does is read your rivals’ own shops: their prices, stock and promotions, beside their new pages and Google rankings, in the same weekly read. When a rival’s AI citations climb in the same weeks it published a buying guide and cut its prices, you see all three on one timeline, in one email with three findings at most and what to do first.
- Price: Growth, $119 a month, has the full AI Overview citations, you against each rival. Starter, $49, has basic AI visibility. Scale, $249, adds a check of whether AI answers get your facts right and whether AI crawlers can read each store. Every plan includes unlimited team members and starts with 3 days free.
- Engines: Google’s AI Overviews, weekly. Not ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini yet.
- Pick it if: you run a store and want AI visibility as part of knowing where you stand against your rivals.
